Q&A
Tell us a bit more about Corner Brew and the team
Weβre a family-run, independent cafe in Chorleywood. Iβm Ingrid and I own and manage the cafe, with the support of my husband, Nik. Weβre parents to three young children and dedicated to creating a family-friendly neighbourhood cafe in the heart of the village. Weβve successfully established our coffee shop to be a welcoming, enjoyable and friendly environment.
Why did you choose to open a cafe in Chorleywood and when did you first open?
We were drawn to Chorleywood because of its strong community spirit and took over the cafe in 2020. Our goal was to create the best coffee bar in Chorleywood β a spot that fits in well with the atmosphere of the area and offers something slightly different. Weβre thrilled to have become a favourite with locals, and also with visitors from as far away as Chesham, Northwood and other surrounding areas. Many of our customers are looking for a great place for their morning coffee or a lunch break so they can escape their home office routine.
What sets your cafΓ© in Chorlewood apart?
What really matters to us β apart from the warm welcome and pleasant atmosphere β is to ensure we serve food and drinks of the utmost highest quality. We always attempt to get our supplies from local and ethical sources whenever we can. Pastries and sourdough bread for sandwiches are delivered fresh every morning from The Seven Seeded Artisan Bakery based in Watford.β
What are your specialities?
Apart from coffee, our specialities include the various sandwiches and breakfast choices customers can choose from. We use Suki Tea Makers which supply ethically sourced and blended loose-leaf teas, herbal infusions and fruit blends from all over the world. Our organic milk is delivered from local suppliers, and we also offer alternative milks like oat and soya.
What about the coffee?
Weβre a speciality coffee shop, so we know how important it is to offer excellent quality coffee. Our coffee is perfectly crafted arabica coffee, supplied by Extract Coffee Roasters. fair trade. It is fair trade and ethically sourced from across the globe β from Central and South America, East Africa, and Asia. Whatever type of coffee you want, weβll make it exactly how you like it using our top-quality Italian coffee machine. And if you donβt like coffee, as I mentioned, we also offer a range of delicious loose-leaf teas.
What about other beverages?
Weβre particularly proud of our freshly made juice blends. Thereβs freshly squeezed orange, of course β which is always popular. However, we offer various savoury or sweet, succulent blends, too. Personal favourites include our Bug Buster, which blends fresh orange and apple juice with ginger, and our Dreamy Detox which is a mix of celery, cucumber, ginger, apples, grapes, and lemon. Your five a day, reduced to one cup.
Do you offer a takeaway service?
Absolutely! If youβre in a rush all our food and drinks can be packaged for you to take away or put into your own containers.β
Whatβs the best piece of advice you can give to customers?
Now that spring is here, our cafΓ©βs outdoor tables become the perfect sun trap. Why not add a little twist to your lunch with a glass of wine and let yourself be whisked away to somewhere more exotic? You can imagine youβre in France or Italy, right here in Chorleywood! Itβs a small and inexpensive way to escape the everyday and enjoy a moment of relaxation and indulgence.
