Chorleywood Film Club is the village’s Community Cinema run by local volunteers and we are dedicated to bringing high quality films to the village. The Chiltern Choir

We are a friendly choir of around 65, meeting to rehearse on a Tuesday evening at the Free Church in Hillside Road. We perform three or four concerts a year, with music ranging from Monteverdi and Bach to Will Todd and Cecilia McDowall, including well loved anthems, gospel, jazz and rock as well as more substantial choral pieces. The choir undertakes tours at home and abroad. Please get in touch if you are interested in joining us.

Chorleywood Orchestra

www.chorleywoodmusic.com has 35 members and has just celebrated its 6th year. The registered charity is committed to bringing quality amateur music to the local community. We perform regular concertsΒ  in the village, for example Elgar’s Cello Concerto, Symphonies by Beethoven, Dvorak and Mozart. In 2019 Chorleywood Orchestra took over the running of the Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year competition. This prestigious event has been the launch pad for many competitors reaching the finals of the BBC Young Musician Competition and other international events. The orchestra has vacancies if you are grade 7 and up please do get in touch.

 

German “Stammtisch”

‘Salon Francais’

The Chorleywood Twinning Association runs a monthly ‘Salon FranΓ§ais’ at Costa Coffee in Chorleywood from 10 to 11.30am on the second Saturday of the month. This is a great chance to come and practice your French: all levels are very welcome.

Chorleywood Twinning Association

Calling all Francophiles and French speakers…
– we have a thriving organisation in Chorleywood which is just for you.Β  The Chorleywood Twinning Association was set up 25 years ago to enable regular exchange visits with a small town just outside Lyon called Dardilly.Β  Last year we visited our French friends there, and they will be returning to us in October this year: a wonderful chance to make new friendships and practice our French.Β  T CTA runs many other events including an annual pΓ©tanque (boules) match, dinner in a local French-owned restaurant, wine tasting, French cultural trips to London and country walks. Speaking in French at such events is optional. Membership of the CTA costs Β£10 p.a. – please contact Caroline at twinning@tumblewood.co.uk for details.

Friends of Carpenters Wood

Two mornings a month, the Friends of Carpenters Wood meet to help maintain the beautiful ancient woodland on the west side of Chorleywood. It is a designated wildlife site with 56 acres of mixed species woodland made up of ancient Beech, Oak, Ash, Larch, Birch and Hornbeam. The Friends are involved in many tasks, including maintaining paths, planting hedges and trees, and installing and maintaining bird and bat boxes. We are always looking for volunteers to join our friendly crew and can be contacted on our website: carpenterswood.com.

Mission EmployAble is a social enterprise charity working in partnership with The Chorleywood Cricket Club, located on Chorleywood Common. Mission EmployAble and the Chorleywood Cricket Club have built a new cricket pavilion on the site of the old pavilion which also houses the new Mission EmployAble cafΓ© and training centre staffed by people with learning disabilities and run for the benefit of cricketers and the local community. Chorleywood Choral Society

We are a mixed-voice choir of around 65 enthusiastic singers of all ages and backgrounds, united by a love of music and choral singing. We put on three performances a year, predominantly of sacred music, as well as an annual tour to either UK or Europe. We rehearse in Christ Church on Chorleywood Common every Monday 8-10pm.
